“You are not alone!” Forums
A key tenet of support through the International Paruresis Association is that “You are not alone!”
Forums are a great way for fellow sufferers to come together to support each other, share and discuss tips, and sometimes just to let off steam.
Here are your options:
Reddit calls itself the “front page of the internet.” In fact, as of July 5, 2021, Reddit was the seventh most popular site in the US and 19th worldwide. What is it? It is a massive collection of forums where people post and share content, and then comment on each other’s items. There are two popular “subreddits” dedicated to paruresis and shy bladder. Click below to visit each and join both today!
The IPA’s Official Subreddit is r/ShyBladderIPA.
Check in here to keep up with the latest IPA news and information.
r/Paruresis is a “public” subreddit and is independent of the IPA. It is where people suffering from paruresis really let it all hang out.
Discord
Discord is a real-time chat portal where people can interact on-the-fly. It’s a great place to share frustration and be heard. Click here for the invite.
IPATalk – Discontinued
IPATalk was the IPA’s long time private community where members came to discuss paruresis topics. Previously a vibrant discussion board, many participants moved on to newer social media outlets (see above). Because of the maintenance expense for this now little used outlet, the IPA discontinued IPATalk on September 30, 2021. We’ll be looking for ways to share archived threads and hope to edit a “Best of IPATalk” resource in the near future. Stay tuned!
Please follow the IPA on our many social platforms.
If you’d like to share comments about these forums or let us know of up and coming new platforms, feel free to use our Contact the IPA form.
